audio | 8 min — a quiet piano miracle
I call this “a quiet piano miracle” because I don’t really know how to play the piano. But on Christmas day 2023 I found myself alone with a lovely upright piano and was feeling close to flow with it. So I decided to record.
This piece has a 30-second clunky passage edited out, otherwise, it’s pretty miraculous to me. I feel like the music takes me to a place of restful peace. I hope you enjoy it too.
I’ve been playing around on and off with the keyboard over the years, always poking around to find a spontaneous improvisational relationship with it. A good place to start is to just play the black notes, which is mostly what I did in this piece.
