Lotus of the Heart
poem | 150 words — a rhyming meditation on the nature of love
Lotus of the Heart
by Maja Apolonia Rode
Dwelling in the silent space
at the center of the heart of grace,
a lotus blooms for all to see
the beauty of reality.
As its petals open to
the shining sun inside of you,
the fragrance-love that they release
fills the air with knowing peace.
Now the breath can fulfill its duty
to receive the world in all its beauty,
then, rhythmically, return to rest
in the simple state of emptiness.
. . .
The lotus of your heart is space
that opens within every place.
For when you look to find a center
it makes a way for you to enter —
or rather, lets the veil down
and brings within the all-around
until you see no separation
between the god and its creation.
. . .
Be still and know that I AM love,
the essence and the substance of
everything that ever is —
and nothing more than this.
